The Costa del Sol is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. It is located within Andalucia, on the southern coast of Spain. The Costa del Sol offers a multitude of holiday resorts, all very different and just a few minutes inland you can still find beautiful villages, hardly touched by tourism. Malaga More than a city and capital of the region. Malaga has an international airport that serves the Costa del Sol. Chances are that for a visit to any of these resorts, this is where you will land. Malaga makes a great day out for shopping or visiting the many historical sites, including a fine castle on the hilltop. The port is one of the largest in Europe and it is flanked by some fine beaches.

Marbella and Puerto Banus Probably the best known resorts on the coast and known as the playground of the rich. Marbella consists of an old town and a new, modern sea front. Here you will find designer shops, wonderful parks and gardens and excellent beaches. Puerto Banus is the finest and most elite port on the coast. Multimillion pound yachts are berthed here and Royal family members make frequent visits, as well as hundreds of celebrities.

Fuengirola One of the most popular, family resorts on the coast. Fuengirola has a well established, all year round trade and is popular with the package holiday companies. The port is a popular place to be, with the weekly market being held here on Sundays. There are a great number of foreign residents living in Fuengirola, including a large community of British residents.

Benalmadena Located just a few kilometres from Fuengirola, Benalmadena consists of three main areas; The costa, the village and Arroyo de la Miel. All three areas have millions of visitors each year and there are great numbers of foreign residents in the area. Most major package holiday companies use Benalmadena. There is no season here anymore and trade is brisk, all year round.

Mijas Mijas has two main areas; Mijas Costa which is the coastal strip with its fine beaches and many business opportunities and the Pueblo (village) which is one of the most beautiful villages in Andalucia. A popular day visit, Mijas Pueblo consists of white painted houses and tiny village shops. The original donkey taxi service still runs in the village.

Estepona Further south, heading towards Gibraltar is Estepona. A quickly developing resort with a superb beach. Still very Spanish in its appearance and visitors. Easy access from here to Marbella and Gibraltar. Estepona has a fine and popular port. The weekly market on Wednesdays worthy of a visit.

Torremolinos The original package holiday destination and now an explosion of holiday apartments and hotels. Still used widely by the large holiday companies and the town is still growing. Fine beaches, excellent nightlife and good shopping make Torremolinos a popular resort with all age groups.
